The Hardware Automation Technical lead will have a proven track record in automation systems design and development, and demonstrated success in automation project leadership, including directing the work of 3rd party equipment vendors. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable multi-tasking and working independently on various applications. This individual will join a dynamic, engaged , and highly collaborative team. Key responsibilities: Automation project leadership and direction. Responsible for the design, development, documentation and production launch of complex, high-precision automated systems. Leading the development and integration of the automation systems and related software tools. Directing the work of third-party equipment vendors and/or partners to meet contract specified deliverables, performance, or business objectives Effective collaboration within a team of scientists, engineers, software developers and process owners to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement solutions designed to optimize the performance and increase the efficiencies of the manufacturing and laboratory processes Lead troubleshooting efforts, analyze data and help drive key process-related decisions Role will require hands-on engagement at the tool, troubleshooting mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical and automation controls Driving initiatives to improve product quality, increase part throughput, decrease equipment downtime, and strengthen both safety measures and engineering innovation within the team Participating actively with R-D in new product introduction, influencing the design of equipment to support new products, ensuring manufacturability and conformance with the global supply chain, enabling prototyping, testing the reliability of prototypes and managing the transition into production Supporting training, and mentoring engineers on hardware-related activities Maintaining strict compliance with ISO13485, cGMP, QSR and other applicable Quality Management System standards; and guiding or educate others on the conformity to such Qualifications Bachelor-s, Master-s, or Doctorate Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience at this level. 7-10 Years of Electro-mechanical system design, programming, integration, and sustaining experience; with hands-on experience at leadership/team-level of engineering execution Hands-on technical experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices Proficiency and leadership in major PLC languages (Rockwell, AB, Siemens Step 7/TIA, Beckhoff) Proficiency, or certification with various 3D Design Packages with focus on mechanical components and system design Experience in ISO13485, or a similar Quality-Regulated measurement system/organization; and leading others within such regulatory mandates and protocols Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills are required Experience leading and mentoring Junior Engineers. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read and interpret C/C++ or similar embedded systems languages Experience in MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools for modeling and analysis Proficient in data visualization Experience in automation tools, precision mechanisms, tooling, GD-T (ANSI Y14.5-2009 or better), robotics, and overall automation systems in a highly regulated industry (Ex. Automotive, Aerospace - Defense, Medical Device, FDA) .
